A Health Conscious Guide To Food in Tulum

We spent six months exploring Tulum's culinary scene, so you're in good hands. If you're a health-conscious traveler seeking delicious and nutritious meals, keep reading as we unveil our top picks in Tulum.

Burrito Amor

Anyone who has been here will tell you these are the best burritos they’ve ever had. They use health conscious ingredients like organic fluoride-free sea salt, and local Mayan honey. They are 100% seed-oil free, which I personally love. I recommend trying their Shrimp Burrito (extra onions). Also, oddly enough this is my favorite place to buy fresh juice from. I recommend the Brain Nourishing Juice, I have been making this nonstop since getting back from Tulum.

Sanara - (formerly The Real Coconut)

This is one of our favorite gems in Tulum, we would go every Sunday morning for coffee (all their coffee is organic). A real vibe to start the week. Sanara is more than a restaurant. Their concept is a hotel, that offers anything and everything wellness. From beach yoga (which is incredible btw), to sound baths, to ceremonial cacaos, this place is quite an experience. Although we never stayed in the hotel, non guests can enjoy all the amenities which is rare. Parking is free which is nice if you are on a scooter for the week. A must do while visiting Tulum.

Otti Tulum

Tucked away in the La Veleta neighborhood of Tulum. While it's not as well-known to tourists, locals hold it dear. They are renowned for their heart-opening and ceremonial cacao drinks, a delightful taste of tradition. I recommend their Almando Cacao, it is DELISH.

Additionally, Otti's offers coffees and other healthy bites to eat from a cafe filled with smiling loving people. It is absolutely a must if you are in the area!

Woolis

This place, is my best kept secret. A lot of the health conscious restaurants nearby, buy their ingredients here. All their meats / cheeses are grass-fed and finished. They focus on providing top-quality, healthy meats, making it a top pick for those who prioritize their protein sources. The owner is big on fermentation so you can always expect to walk in and see items such as pickled beets, turmeric kraut, raw milk, things like that. I am obsessed with this place, it’s one of the places I miss most being back in the US.

CoCon Amor

Tucked away in a small neighborhood, this place is easy to miss but they have incredible finds inside. A lot of superfood powders and tinctures, this place is great to buy small qualities to try stuff out or bulk if you’ll be in Tulum for awhile. We would also go for their organic spiralina powder, and their Palo Santo incense.

The market has an attached vegan friendly restaurant attached that is fantastic for meeting expats or simply enjoying an amazing meal!

Mestixa

Another killer date night idea. Mestixa is known for its fusion of Asian, Japanese, and Mexican flavors. They prioritize locally sourced, sustainable ingredients. Our top picks are the Miso Cured Sea Bass, fish tostadas, and bao buns.
